SAN JOSE, CA – The Evergreen School District Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Emy Flores to the position of Superintendent of Evergreen School District subject to ratification of the employment agreement at the June 13, 2019 Board of Trustees Regular Meeting.
Evergreen School District Board of Trustees would like to thank Eric Andrew and Fred Van Leuven of Leadership Associates for their services in assisting and facilitating the superintendent search. The Board of Trustees would also like to thank Bob Nuñez for his services as Interim Superintendent during this transition.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Bonnie Mace, Board President, stated "Evergreen School District is excited to have Dr. Emy Flores as our new Superintendent. She has the skills and experience to build on our successes and carry us forward in collaboration with all of our stakeholders."
Dr. Emy Flores has been an educator since 1993. She has served as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, director, and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services with a strong background in professional development, instructional technology, bilingual education and the Arts.
As Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the last four years with Fullerton School District, Dr. Flores has developed and implemented multiple award-winning programs including Dual Immersion, Visual and Performing Arts, Speech & Debate, STEAM, Middle College, and Computer Science. She has been recognized for her leadership at the local, state, and national level. She is the 2019 STEAM Educator of the Year for California 29th Senate District, 2017 and 2015 Woman of Distinction for the California State Assembly 65, 2007 Woman of the Year for California Assembly District 57, and an Apple Distinguished Educator.
Dr. Flores holds a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California (2015) as well as a Masters of Arts degree in Multicultural Education from California State University Dominguez Hills (1996). She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Society from the University of California Santa Barbara (1993).
