On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, John J. Montgomery School was recognized as the Champion School for Music Education in all of Santa Clara County! We are pleased to receive this distinction as we understand that music education is a strong aspect to a child's development. Here are some words from our music program partners, Music for Minors: We are excited to announce that we have selected Montgomery Elementary as our 2018-19 Champion School for Music Education! This is a designation given to a specific school each year based upon financial need, music value (presence of internal advocate for music education), and long-term commitment to include music as an integral part of a well-rounded education. Principal Guillermo Ramos, a strong leader and enthusiastic proponent of music comments, "It is an honor to work with the Music for Minors team and I look forward to the possibilities our relationship will continue to bring."
Second and Third grade students had the opportunity to meet and listen to a local renowned author/illustrator LeUyen Pham on October 23rd, 2018. Students heard Ms. Pham read her recently published book, "Stop That Yawn." To close the presentation, she modeled a live sketch session and personally autographed books for children.
