We are pleased to receive this distinction as we understand that music education is a strong aspect to a child's development. Here are some words from our music program partners, Music for Minors: We are excited to announce that we have selected Montgomery Elementary as our 2018-19 Champion School for Music Education! This is a designation given to a specific school each year based upon financial need, music value (presence of internal advocate for music education), and long-term commitment to include music as an integral part of a well-rounded education. Principal Guillermo Ramos, a strong leader and enthusiastic proponent of music comments, "It is an honor to work with the Music for Minors team and I look forward to the possibilities our relationship will continue to bring."
Second and Third grade students had the opportunity to meet and listen to a local renowned author/illustrator LeUyen Pham on October 23rd, 2018. She encourages to bring a sketchbook to record memories instead of using a camera. In addition, she reminds us that drawing is a language. Students heard Ms. Pham read her recently published book, "Stop That Yawn." To close the presentation, she modeled a live sketch session and personally autographed books for children.
