Silver Oak Newsroom
As the colder weather and the rainy season begins we want to remind you that students benefit from playing outdoors, having the fresh air, increased space to run around and a change of scenery. Time outside is healthy and helps our students return to the classroom ready to learn again. Our goal at Silver Oak is to help our students get the necessary daily physical activity regardless of weather conditions. Silver Oak's policies on rainy day recess is that if it is light rain or mist our students will go outside for recess. If it starts pouring while we are outside, students are directed to go under the overhangs. If it is pouring prior to recess starting, students will have recess in their classrooms and have lunch recess in the cafeteria where they will be able to enjoy a video.
In preparing for the winter/rainy season ahead remember the saying "no bad weather, only bad clothing." Kids should be prepared for rainy days outside. This means waterproof boots, waterproof overcoats, hats, mittens and umbrellas. Our goal is to balance the physical activity our students need to release during the day and be ready to learn while keeping our students safe.
