It is important for our children to learn that we are all connected with responsibilities toward one another and to society. The qualities of generosity, caring, compassion and service to others becomes a strong and integral part of a child's character when he/she is given opportunities and is encouraged to perform both small and large acts of kindness. By teaching children to give generously of their time, talents and treasures, we are helping them build the pillars of character of caring and community service within themselves, As in the past, our school will be participating in a food drive. Students are asked to bring in non-perishable food to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution to families in need. The canned food drive will begin the week of December 2nd and continue through December 13th. You can help your children experience the joy of giving and learn the importance of stewardship by talking to them about service to others, by helping them select food to donate, and by encouraging your children to give generously. To promote school safety, Cadwallader has added Pedestrian Walking Flags and Holders. The flags are used at school intersections to help keep children safe as they walk to school. When a student holds a Pedestrian Crosswalk Flag as they use a crosswalk, they are making surrounding cars aware of their presence and giving them the confidence to safely walk to school. Please discuss the proper use of the pedestrian walking flags and holder with your children. Thank you.

As we reach mid way of the school year it is critical that emergency cards be updated with current information. The staff uses these cards to contact parents in the event of an emergency. Moreover, students will only be released to the people listed on the emergency card. If your phone number or addresses changes, please notify the office immediately. If you have already registered with "Parent portal" and have updated your contact information we thank you. We encourage all parents to register on Parent portal at www.eesd.org or on our school web page and click on parent portal.

Starting in January, in efforts to continuously improve your children's safety, the Evergreen Elementary School District will use a new automated phone system to report children who are absent or tardy. These automated phone messages will be sent at 8:45 a.m. every day. If you receive an automated absence message, call the office immediately at 408-270-4950 in order to clear the absence and to ensure your child is at school, or to confirm the absence if your child is absent.
