Dear Holly Oak Parents and Students,
Welcome! It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to welcome you to the 2019-20 school year! We had a great 2018-19 with a lot of exciting programs for our students to participate in, such as the Royal Dance Academy and PEER STEM classes. I first want to recognize and bid farewell to Mrs. Garner, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Herbert, & Mrs. Newmyer. They retired at the end of the 18-19 school year and were a very important part of our school, they will be missed. I also want to welcome Ms. Gogri as our incoming Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Zanolli as our new 2nd grade teacher, and Mrs. Handa coming over from Dove Hill Elementary to teach 1st grade. In addition to expanding the SEAL program to 4th & 5th grade last year, we are now adding 6th grade to complete a school wide SEAL program. I look forward to building on these programs and successes with our incoming students.
This year, we have several opportunities for parent engagement. Please take the opportunity to get involved with our community, participate in school programs, and support our students by joining the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), volunteer in the classroom, and/or participate on a school-wide committee such as the School Site Council (SSC), and English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC).
Class lists and room assignments for students will be posted in the front of the school on Tuesday, August 20th by 4:00pm. You may also check teacher/room assignments online on Parent Portal (info below). Please remember that your student's placement is provisional as classes can, and often do, change during the first two weeks of school. Students entering Kindergarten will receive a letter in the mail, which will include teacher and room assignments by the same date. Please note the first minimum day will be on Thursday, August 29th for grades 1st to 6th.
Again, welcome back! We hope to see you at the "Hawk Social", where we will be serving ice cream and toppings from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm on August 20th, and "Coffee with the Principal" on August 21st in the multi purpose room at 8:30 am. Have a restful last few days of summer vacation, I look forward to a great school year!

- PARENT PORTAL – STUDENT SCHEDULE AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Holly Oak is using the Parent Portal system to collect emergency contact information and communication preferences. Signing up on Parent Portal is a high priority. Please take a few minutes to review and update your emergency information prior to the start of school. On Tuesday August 20th at 4:00 PM your child's classroom assignment(s) will be posted in the parent portal http://powerschool.eesd.org/public/ under the My Schedule icon in the left navigation box. "WELCOME BACK COFFEE - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21st, @ 8:30 AM
Join us in the Multi Use Room on August 21st for a "Welcome Back Coffee" @ 8:30 AM Refreshments and light snacks will be served. We will share upcoming events planned for the 2019-2020 school year and how we can work together to provide a great school year for our students. Hope to see you there!

We will hold a TK & Kindergarten Orientation for our new incoming students and their parent/guardians. Our Kinder team will preview the upcoming year and introduce classroom expectations.
Please bring your Kinder child with you when attending this orientation in the Kinder Building.

- Parking Lot Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
To ensure student safety, the Holly Oak parking lot is closed for drop off and pick up. Only staff, school buses, and official visitors are allowed in the parking stalls. Please practice courtesy, respect, and safety when driving around the school. Help us prevent the risk of serious injury by adhering to the rules listed below, and encourage your child to use the crosswalks. We will also continue our Walk n' Roll program encouraging our families to walk to school to reduce neighborhood traffic and get some fresh air before the school day begins.
If you would like to volunteer to supervise any of the crosswalks in the morning or afternoon we would greatly appreciate it. Please send an email to Mr. Sanchez (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call the front office @ 408-270-4975. Thank you in advance for your support!
- SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES
Please take every opportunity to be a parent of your child's education. Join the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Volunteer in the classroom and/or participate on a school-wide committee. This year, we are looking for volunteers to serve as members of our School Site Council (SSC) and English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC). If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please contact the school at (408) 270-4975 after August 16th for details. Elections will be held at the end of August.
- LUNCH INFORMATION
The price for school lunch is $3.50 full price and $0.40 for reduced price, breakfast is $2.00 and $0.20 for reduced price. We would like ALL students to fill out this application.
Families can complete an online application for the 2019-2020 school year online at http://www.heartlandapps.com. The process is SAFE, SECURE, PRIVATE, and AVAILABLE anytime, anywhere!
Also be sure to sign up at http://www.MySchoolBucks.com, a convenient online service that allows you to securely pay for your student's meals online using your credit/debit card or electronic check.
Payments can be made beginning August 15, 2019 in the school office. Please be aware that payments will no longer be accepted at the Child Nutrition Services office. Parents can continue to send cash or checks to their school with their student. Please make sure payments left in the school front office are clearly marked with your student's full name, classroom #, and student ID# if known.
- San Jose R.O.C.K AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
The San Jose R.O.C.K is offering an on-site after school child care program for our students. After School care is provided from 2:00 pm to 6:00pm. Information about fees and how to sign up are attached below or can be found in the front office or online at SJRegistration.com
- OFFICE HOURS
